MAIN-E-ACT TEAM
The Main-E-Acts Baton Twirling Team is the travel component of the Central Maine Twirling Corps program. Main-E-Act team members are those twirlers that demonstrate supreme dedication to their chosen sport of twirling, and wish to grow their experience through regional and national competitions and performances.
Enthusiastically named by the team’s founding 10 members, the Main-E-Acts Team was created in 2004 as the travel component of the then umbrella program—the World of Twirl. Original team members were selected by the founder and director of the World of Twirl, Diane Higgins, for their outstanding twirling and dancing abilities, as well as their enthusiasm, dedication and passion for the sport of baton twirling, and these qualities are still sought in today’s team members.
This group of exceptional young women has entertained and charmed the communities of Maine at countless local parades, fairs and celebrations, and dazzled families from around the world with their performances in Walt Disney World’s Share a Dream Come True and SpectroMagic parades. Awarded Disney Twirl Mania’s Junior Parade Team of the Year in 2006 for their exemplary twirling, appearance, entertainment value, precision, and exceptional professionalism, the Main-E-Acts continue to share their enthusiasm for the unique sport of twirling, and passion for performing, with audiences throughout the country. In 2009 and 2015, the Main-E-Acts performed in the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington, DC, in 2010 entertained in the 249th New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York, New York, and in 2017 celebrated in the 6ABC Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Main-E-Acts are members of the National Baton Twirling Association, are the proud 2009, 2010, 2016 and 2019 recipients of the Northeast Regional Dorothy Barry Memorial Team Award and the 2015 (and first) recipients of the Linda A. Lanni Outstanding Team Sportsmanship Award. They are the 2019 Northeast Regional Senior Twirling Corps, Halftime, Twirl Team and Dance Twirl Team Champions. The team attended NBTA’s Grand National Baton Twirling Championships (AYOP) in 2006, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2019 and has proudly placed in the prestigious “Top Ten” of Preteen, Junior and Senior Dancetwirl, Twirl Team, Halftime Show Team, Twirl Corp, Show Corps and Parade Corp Divisions. In 2017 they won the National Sr. Beg. Lg. Dance Twirl Team and Sr. Beg. Sm. Twirl Team divisions, and in 2019 they became the USA Senior Halftime Show Twirl Team Champions and proud recipients of the Dunford DeVenney Family Dynasty Award.
